Laboratory Diffraction Contrast Tomography is the non-destructive 3D crystallographic imaging LabDCT module available on ZEISS Xradia 520 and 620 Versa X-ray microscopes. It brings the grain mapping technique that was previously only available at a few synchrotron facilities to the home laboratory.

Learn how LabDCT can facilitate solving diverse and challenging problems in materials science from our user stories on annealing responses of cold-rolled low carbon industrial steels, abnormal grain growth in Armco iron and liquid metal embrittlement associated with grain boundary wetting in Al-Ga.

These investigations take advantage of the facts that LabDCT is a non-destructive 3D characterisation technique enabling studies of microstructural evolution, that LabDCT is seamlessly integrated with absorption tomography enabling multimodal imaging, and that the resulting grain maps enable grain boundary analysis.
